The panel provided a detailed report of the main features of the Charter as well as insights to the negotiations surrounding the Charter and ASEAN Human Rights Body to an audience of about 20 Asian ambassadors to the EU, think tank experts, foundation officials and other Brussels-based Asia-watchers. The sessions were chaired by Mr. Seamus Gillespie, Head of the South-East Asia Unit in the Directorate-General for External Relations of the European Commission and H.E. Mr. Anil Kumar Nayar, Ambassador of Singapore to the European Union. Dr. David Camroux, Senior Lecturer at the Paris Institute of Political Studies, gave a comprehensive summary of the afternoon’s proceedings as panel rapporteur.
