Japan’s view of major trends and policies in Asia

Date: Thu, 28/01/2010 - 11:00 - 12:30

Asia's rapidly changing landscape continues to make the global headlines as countries rebuild their economies in the wake of the economic crisis and forge new inter-regional trade and diplomatic ties. Japan, as the world's second largest economy, remains a key player in Asia. Reinforcing Japan's role and presence in the region is also a key priority for the government of the country's Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.

These and other issues, including the Asian regional situation and Japan's response will be the subject of a roundtable discussion with Ambassador Masafumi Ishii of the Policy Planning and International Security Policy division of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting will be chaired by Shada Islam, EPC Senior Programme Executive.
