The event took place in Bali, Indonesia from 23rd till 25th May 2011.
The Asia Europe Roundtable (AER) series on Conflict Management has covered the whole conflict cycle – from conflict prevention, conflict resolution, peace-keeping and peace-making, to post-conflict reconstruction and reconciliation. Throughout the discussions, there has been consensus that there is value in developing and deepening Asia-Europe partnership to address these challenges to peace and security. In order to address the complexity that will be involved in building an inclusive, multi-sector Asia-Europe strategic partnership on conflict transformation, the 8th Asia-Europe Roundtable deployed a scenario-building and formulation exercise to develop possible models of cooperation between Asia and Europe.
The overall objective of the 8th AER was to enhance regional conflict management mechanisms in Asia and Europe and develop various Asia-Europe strategic partnership models.
It was organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), in joint partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation (FES) and the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA), with the support of the Europe-Asia Policy Forum (EUforAsia).
